THE SHORT ANSWER

Stay if it's working. Start fresh on Votel.

  • Stay on GoHighLevelYour agency already runs on it, with snapshots and a trained team
  • Choose VotelYou're launching or rebuilding an AI-first agency in 2026
  • Run bothOnly while one specific conversation needs Votel's agent builder
Quick answer

GoHighLevel is the better fit for an agency that already runs on it, with snapshots, marketplace apps and a trained team. Votel is the better fit for an agency starting or rebuilding around AI agents in 2026, because the agents, CRM and white label live in one simpler platform. Most agencies only need one of them.

Votel features checked against Votel's docs and a live account in September 2026. HighLevel features checked against its help center. I earn a commission on Votel signups through my link; HighLevel strengths are listed just as plainly.

Where they started

What's the difference between GoHighLevel and Votel?

I ran Special Projects and AI at HighLevel. I've also spent the last few months building client accounts in Votel. Here is how they actually differ.

GoHighLevel

A CRM and marketing platform that added AI.

HighLevel grew up on funnels, pipelines, SMS and email automation, then snapshots and SaaS mode. Voice AI, Conversation AI and the AI Employee came later and sit on top of that foundation. That's why its strength is breadth: almost anything an agency delivers can live in one account.

Votel

An AI agent platform that wrapped a CRM around the agent.

Votel (Votel AI, at votel.ai) starts with the conversation. Agents answer calls, texts, emails and chat, and the CRM, calendars, workflows, websites and payments are built around what the agent needs. Its pitch to agencies is a white-label, AI-first platform you can be selling in an afternoon.

The honest read: on a checklist, the two overlap far more than most comparison posts admit. Both have a CRM, pipelines, calendars, phone and SMS, workflows, AI agents, websites, sub-accounts and white label. The difference is depth. HighLevel has years of build-out across marketing and client delivery. Votel goes deeper on how an AI agent is built, tested and controlled.

Where each one wins

Where is HighLevel stronger, and where does Votel win?

HighLevel's edge

Depth, ecosystem and everything you already built.

  • Ecosystem maturity. The marketplace, the courses, the Facebook groups, the freelancers who already know it. Votel can't match that yet.
  • Platform depth. Memberships, communities, reputation, invoicing, reporting: years of features for client delivery.
  • Your existing investment. Snapshots, custom workflows and a team that knows where everything is. That's real value, and switching costs it.

Votel's edge

Speed to live, AI architecture and white-label control.

  • Getting started. Signup to a working, branded agent is a much shorter path. I set up a sub-account from my phone without fighting the UI.
  • AI built in, not bolted on. The agent, its workflow and its tests live in one builder. In one like-for-like session I counted 319 MCP tools in Votel against 36 in HighLevel.
  • White label you can actually control. Native themes, login page editing and calendar styling (33 themes, 4 layouts when I checked), where HighLevel usually means custom CSS.

The full scorecard, with screenshots and dates, lives on why I'm bullish on Votel. Short version: Votel takes getting started, mobile, AI architecture, SaaS onboarding, white-label control, calendars and MCP range. HighLevel takes ecosystem maturity, platform depth and marketplace. Existing investment depends on you.

One platform or both?

Do you need GoHighLevel and Votel, or just one?

Option A

Stay on GoHighLevel

Your agency runs on GHL, clients are happy, and the AI job is standard: answer the phone, qualify, book, recover missed calls. HighLevel's own Voice AI writes straight to the contact record, so there's nothing to sync. Don't break a working business to chase a new tool.

Option B · My pick for new agencies

Start on Votel

You're starting fresh in 2026, or rebuilding. AI agents are what you sell, and you don't have years of snapshots to protect. One platform, one record, and a white-label experience your clients will actually log into. This is the case I'd make to anyone launching today.

Option C

Run both, for now

Client operations live in GHL, but one conversation needs Votel's agent builder: deep qualification, a strict knowledge base, smarter call routing. Or you're testing Votel on a few clients before deciding. Keep it to one clear job per platform.

A quick way to decide: write down the three hardest calls your client gets in a week. Build those exact calls on both platforms and listen to them. Let the conversation that matters to the client choose the tool, not the length of the feature list.

If you run both

How do you run GoHighLevel and Votel together?

Running both is usually a stage, not a destination. While you're there, keep one system of record.

ResponsibilityOwner
Contacts, custom fields, tags and consentGoHighLevel, if it's already your CRM
Pipeline stages, opportunity owner and reportingGoHighLevel
Calendar of record, reminders and no-show recoveryGoHighLevel
The AI conversation: approved answers, qualifying questions, transfer rulesVotel
Call recordings, transcripts and agent testsVotel
Post-call nurture and internal tasksGoHighLevel

The risk with two all-in-one platforms isn't a missing feature. It's both of them doing the same job: two sets of reminders, duplicate contacts, two automations fighting over one lead. Decide who owns each step before anyone builds an agent.

Votel will still keep its own contact and call records. That's fine. Treat them as the conversation log, and treat whichever platform is your CRM as the place your team opens to see the truth about a lead. The three ways to wire it up, with a worked example and field mapping, are in how to connect Votel to GoHighLevel.

If you're switching

How hard is it to switch from GoHighLevel to Votel?

The thing that kept most agencies on HighLevel was the move itself. Rebuilding every pipeline, form and workflow by hand for every client is weeks of work nobody bills for.

MoveOver changed that. It's a Chrome extension that copies 23 kinds of HighLevel asset into Votel, from contacts with their tags, notes and tasks to pipelines, opportunities, workflows, calendars, forms, funnels, products and even Voice AI agents. Anything live arrives switched off, so nothing fires before you've checked it.

Phone numbers are the slow part. The number transfers, but its texting approval doesn't, so plan for a fresh A2P registration. The whole sequence, including what never transfers, is in how to migrate from GoHighLevel to Votel.

Before you switch

  • Don't move a client mid-campaign or mid-launch.
  • Don't cancel HighLevel until calls, texts and bookings test clean in Votel.
  • Don't assume a feature with the same name works the same way. Test it.

FAQ

GoHighLevel vs Votel FAQ

Is Votel a GoHighLevel alternative?

Yes. Votel positions itself as an all-in-one replacement for GoHighLevel, with its own CRM, pipelines, calendars, phone and SMS, workflows, websites, payments, sub-accounts and white label. The difference is that it's built around AI agents first, where HighLevel added AI on top of an existing CRM and marketing platform.

Can HighLevel integrate with Votel?

Yes. From the HighLevel side, a workflow can send a contact to Votel the moment something happens (a form fill, a missed call, a pipeline move) using HighLevel's Custom Webhook action, and Votel can start an agent workflow from that webhook. Results come back through HighLevel's Inbound Webhook trigger, or through Zapier or Make if you'd rather not touch webhooks. The step-by-step version is in how to connect Votel to GoHighLevel.

Can Votel integrate with HighLevel?

Yes. Votel's documentation lists an OAuth connection to a GoHighLevel business location, plus an MCP-based GoHighLevel connection, and its voice, SMS and email agents can use connected tools while they're talking to a customer. Votel's integration catalog also lists an Import from GoHighLevel option. Availability changes, so check the agent integrations section of Votel's docs for exactly what the connection can do on your plan today.

Can I migrate from HighLevel to Votel?

Yes. Most agencies do it in two parts. The account data (contacts, pipelines, opportunities, workflows, calendars, forms, funnels and more) moves with MoveOver, which copies 23 HighLevel asset types into Votel and leaves workflows and calendars switched off until you review them. Phone numbers move separately, through an account-to-account transfer and a fresh A2P 10DLC registration. The full plan is in how to migrate from GoHighLevel to Votel.

Can I migrate from GoHighLevel to Votel?

Yes. GoHighLevel and HighLevel are the same platform, so the path is the same: inventory the sub-account, run MoveOver to copy the data across, rebuild the few things that never transfer (users, domains, payment gateways, integrations), then move the phone number last. Run both side by side until calls, texts and bookings test clean in Votel. Expect the texting side to take the longest, because A2P approval doesn't follow the number and a new registration usually takes 10 to 15 days.

Do I need both GoHighLevel and Votel?

Usually not. Both include a CRM, calendars, messaging, workflows and AI agents. If HighLevel's Voice AI and Conversation AI cover your calls and chats, stay on one platform. Run both only when Votel handles a specific conversation better and GoHighLevel already holds the client's operations, and treat it as a stage rather than the end state.

Does GoHighLevel have its own AI voice agent?

Yes. HighLevel Voice AI answers and makes calls inside the sub-account, and Conversation AI handles SMS, social DMs and web chat. For a standard answer-qualify-book flow on an existing GHL account, start there. The detailed comparison is in GoHighLevel Voice AI vs Votel AI.

Which is better for white label and SaaS reselling?

For an agency with years of snapshots and SaaS clients already on it, HighLevel's SaaS Configurator and rebilling are mature and well understood. For control over the client experience itself, Votel goes further: native themes, login pages, navigation, onboarding, and per-service limits you can set to unlimited, pay-per-use, capped or off. The SaaS side is compared screen by screen in HighLevel vs Votel SaaS Configurator.

Is Votel cheaper than GoHighLevel?

It depends on how you use it, so compare plans on votel.ai and gohighlevel.com against your real volume. On Voice AI usage specifically, Votel published a $0.039 per minute platform fee and HighLevel a $0.045 per minute Voice Engine rate (both September 2026), with voice, model and phone costs on top of each. Premium voices and large models can outweigh that gap.
